Framing Collections

Collections Framing: Depending on the value and uniqueness of the collections, I employ many mounting techniques. Invariably, I choose to float these on top of mat or fabric boards, or within mat openings. Glazing can be optional but a framer has to think about protecting the paper mat from atmospheric pollution and greasy fingerprints. Proper positioning of multiple items can bring unity or chaos to the display. I prefer the former. Watching out for negative space and using it to your advantage can affect the end result. I use tall enough moulding that I can recess the substrate board with built up walls of variable color for effect.
